Bike rides, cheese, and clogs

This morning we traveled to Edam in Holland. It is a cute rural city.

We went on a bike tour through the city, which was more difficulty than you might think. These bikes were very wobbly and we were advised to stay out of a cars way..as someone had been hit on a tour before..mostly because the driver didn't like tourists and had no desire to stop.

Other than that, we really enjoyed biking around. It was very peaceful! Our guide stopped and told us the history of the town throughout the bike tour. Below is one of their windmills. She said they continuously repair it because they need it and have no desire to build new ones.

After the tour we went to a cheese and clog shop. We were briefly filled in on how they make cheese, followed by an entertaining clog making tutorial.

We then returned to Amsterdam to have free time. Laura and I decided to go to the Anne Frank House. We stood in line for 1.5 hours before getting tickets, but it was worth it. They had very interesting artifacts (parts of her journals, the bookcase, amongst other things).

After Anne Frank, we walked around Amsterdam and did some shopping. Below is a picture of all the decorations they have going on for the World Cup. There is orange footballs everywhere (can't call them soccer balls here)!

Tonight we are going on a canal cruise. Tomorrow will be a travel day to Berlin, so you probably won't here from me!

P.S. Happy Father's Day, Dad!!!

    1. Our cruise took us down the Amstel Canal and by the skinny bridge, but I didn't take any pics unfortunately. Our guide didn't share that 007 info..
