Here it is Rachel---a little mood music for your pictures.

Cedar Point!

This is the Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. It is the second tallest roller coaster in the world. I rode it and survived :)

Downtown Detroit

Rachel's brother David gave us a tour of Detroit one evening. We took a monorail type tour around the city first. We got off at the GM building and walked around some and took a few pictures.

Picture 1: A view of Canada across the Detroit River.

Picture 2: The GM building. We walked around in the bottom floor of the building. There were several cars on display. We ate in the Italian restaurant downstairs.

Picture 3: This is the plaza where, according to Rachel, they have fairs and concerts.

Picture 4: This fist is in the middle of an intersection. It is the Joe Louis monument.

Picture 5: This is the Spirit of Detroit Statue.

Joe's Apartment

Another mountain view.  Joe and Dad took this from up above the place where we are staying last night.

Here is the place where Joe will be staying in the fall.  It is an old house that has been divided into 8 apartments.   There is no common area--each apartment is self-contained.  The apartments are not a whole lot bigger than a dorm room. His is on the 2nd floor.  He can walk to all his classes.  The campus begins almost as soon as you cross the street.  This house is on the same street as the Daniel Boone Inn---it is about a block away.

Today

Here are some pictures from today.

We spent the day apartment hunting but still have not come up with anything.  The first picture is of the upstairs bedroom in the cabin which was the only one suitable for photographing since we are not using it and therefore it is not a mess.
The 2nd is of the front of Samaritan's Purse which has its  HQ in Boone.  This is the organization that sends out all the shoeboxes at Christmas, plus does a lot of other things all over the world all the time.

The 3rd is through the windshield of our car as we patiently waited for the cows to get across the driveway so that we could go into the gate.  These are the baby cows.  The mamas and the papas were off to the right but we didn't take their picture.

mountain trip #2

Here's a picture of the cabin we are staying in this week and the view from the front porch.  There are lots of cows right outside the front yard--you can kind of see one in this picture if you look on the left side of the picture.
We met Jon and Vicky in Blowing Rock today and watched the parade.  They are staying in Blowing Rock until Monday so we may get to see them again.
Our cabin is quite a ways out but it is a nice place with a huge kitchen and great internet access!
